Chinese Sleep Chant
I saw Coldplay at Brixton Academy on Monday, and I've listened to the album across the week. And I'm not going to add to the absurd avalanche of press about them by doing exhaustive pointless reviews. They're still great live. And the album is a vast improvement on the bloated X&Y. If you didn't like them before, you won't like them now. But if, like me, you find them earnestly endearing and capable of moments of genuine emotional transcendance, despite (or perhaps even because) of their limitations, then there's much to enjoy. Someone has to be the biggest band in the world and I'm glad it's them.
Plus, they fired confetti butterflies into the air at the end of their encore. Ok, it's hardly The Flaming Lips, but hey, I'm easily bought.
Oh and there was a free bar at the aftershow. Tuesday was a struggle...
Anyway, from one extreme to the other: My Bloody Valentine on Saturday, with support from Sonic Boom, once of Spacemen 3. EXCITED! And, by Sunday, probably DEAF!
